Recently diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or do you think your child has a disorder?
What you need to do ASAP!!!!!
- Get a diagnosis and apply for state aid immediately - (Some states do not have a waiting list. Florida's has a wait. According to WCTV.TV...As of 2009, ADP puts the wait list at 19,000).
- Select a Developmental Pediatrician - Some do not take insurance.
- Contact your local Center For Autism & Related Disorders (CARD). They will evaluate your needs, assist with services, schools, programs & workshops.
- Select an appropriate School or facility that best fits your needs.
- Try to find an organization that will provide free or discounted respite care. Some respite services will provide overnight care. You and your spouse will need to go out to a movie or dinner once in a while.
- Search the Country for a Doctor that specializes in Autism Spectrum disorders - People have RECOVERED from Autism!!!!
- I know you are in denial. We all were at first but early intervention is the key. YOU ARE YOUR CHILD'S STRONGEST ADVOCATE. NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER.
